Pulmonary Critical Care Clinical Conference

One of the fellows presents an interesting pulmonary or critical care case followed by a review of the topic illustrated by the case. A discussion follows the presentation. Participation by everyone is encouraged. The fellow is mentored by the teaching attending assigned for the week. Format varies based on the case and the fellow. Critical care topics will alternate with pulmonary topics.

Pulmonary Critical Care Journal Club

The fellows and faculty present an important or interesting article that is reviewed in detail with attention to methods, statistics, and study design as well as content. The fellow is mentored and assisted by an attending. The first week features a pulmonary article and the third week features a critical care article.

Pulmonary Critical Care Grand Rounds

In depth reviews of critical care topics, research, or basic science given by the faculty, fellows, and guest speakers.

Critical Care Core Conference

This is a repeating series of lectures for the fellows in order to teach the basics of critical care medicine including the underlying physiology and basic science. Pulmonary and Critical Care topics will alternate.

Pulmonary Disease Core Conference

This is a repeating series of lectures for the fellows in order to teach the basics of pulmonary disease including the underlying physiology and basic science. Pulmonary and Critical Care topics will alternate.

Thoracic Oncology Conference

A multidisciplinary conference with Pulmonologists, Oncologists, Radiologists, Pathologists, and Surgeons (Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Oncology) attending. A lecture is given followed by review of cases to be seen that day. The Thoracic Oncology Clinic is held directly following the conference. Thoracic Oncology Clinic follows the conference.

Radiology Conference

Chest radiology topics and films from selected cases are reviewed in detail with one of the chest radiologists leading the discussion. Faculty and fellows provide the clinical details and the radiologist reviews and explains the radiographs. This is an interactive conference and open to any student, resident, or faculty member.

Interstitial Lung Disease Conference

Complex cases of interstitial lung disease are discussed in this multidisciplinary conference.  Fellows and attendings will present cases and discuss differential diagnosis, treatment plans, as well as imaging and pathology education.

Small Group Conference

Fellows are split into small groups and will have more individualized teaching covering areas of mechanical ventilation, ultrasound/POCUS, simulation lab procedures, and research/bronchoscopy.  Small groups are run throughout the academic year and will cover each subject entirely by the end of the fellows educational program.
