Notable rotations

Night medicine

The Night medicine team covers all of the general internal medicine services (including Pirate and hybrid complex medical unit). Our residents do not have 24 hour shifts. Night medicine is when our residents have one of the most autonomy to make clinical decisions.

Pirate

Dedicated internal medicine service with focus on co-management model with orthopedic surgical team. It is two senior residents and an attending on the team, so you can develop independent clinical practice

Procedures

We perform bedside procedures including lumbar puncture, abdominal paracentesis and central venous catheter placement under the supervision of a faculty memeber from either internal medicine or critical care.

Hybrid complex medical unit (HCMU)

This is a specialized med-psych unit that integrates care for patients who have a psychiatric and medical condition that requires inpatient care. It is a fantastic interdisciplinary team with psychiatry and med-psych trainees.

Geriatrics

Providing primary care for patients at MacGregor Downs, East Carolina Rehab and Greenville Health & Rehab
