Message from the Program Director

Welcome.

On behalf of the ECU Health, I extend our sincere gratitude for your interest in the neurology residency program.

The residency, which will welcome its first intern class in July 2025, is prepared to provide an outstanding foundational experience in neurology to our future trainees.

Residents work with our large and diverse faculty including neurologists with subspeciality training in epilepsy, sleep disorders, neurocritical care, headache & facial pain, pediatric neurology, cerebrovascular diseases, movement disorders & dementia, neuroimmunology & multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders, neuro-oncology, and interventional stroke. Residents will also collaborate with specialists in complementary fields including neuroradiology, neuropathology, neurosurgery, physiatry, psychiatry and all major internal medicine subspecialities. The institution offers residency and fellowship training in many fields, and the residency program is supported by outstanding resources through graduate medical education.

Through our affiliation with the Brody School of Medicine, our residents have access to a dynamic academic community where faculty, residents and students can collaborate and teach one another as peers. At ECU, we value research and quality improvement work as integral parts of resident development. Our aim is to actively engage residents in meaningful research and QI opportunities that contribute to the advancement of neurological science and improved patient health.

We encourage you to apply to the residency program and become a part of our growing community. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Sincerely,

J. M. Ferrara, MD, FAAN
